STEMonWeb is a STEM community comprising of :

  1. Student:
  2. Teachers:
  3. Parent: if your child/ward has signed on the platform as a student
  4. Content Donor: if you want to contribute to the STEM resources on the platform
  5. School: A school can request for a school code that can be applied by all users in the school to build an intra community network

Conventions Used in this Document:

Creating Account

To create account, go to https://stemonweb.com and Click on either

  1. User Sign up
  2. Create Account Button
Clicking on any of the above options will open the account creation form in a pop up box. Please pay attention to the user type. The email you supply must be valid and will be your login username subsequently. You can create an account as one of Teacher/Student/Parent or Content Donor.

  1. Then proceed to complete other required information : First Name, Surname ,Email , Password and check the box to agree to our terms and condition
  2. Click the Get Started Button

Account Verification

After completing the Signup form, a verification link would be sent to your mailbox to verify your email.

Please note that your account must be verified before you can use it

Once the verification is complete, you will be automatically logged in to your account.

Login In and Password Reset

After creating an account, you will be required to login to access the benefit of STEMonWeb, To login from the home page:

  1. Input your email address and password respectively in the space provided and click the LOGIN button as shown in the screenshot below

If you could not be logged in after following the above steps, you may need to reset your password

Updating Your Profile

Your profile tells the community about you and STEMonWeb gives you the privilege to choose how much of your information you would like to make public and how much information you would also like to receive on the platform through your profile settings.

As a Teacher, your picture, name and location will help your students to easily and accurately identify you and any group you create on the platform. Please do complete these details.
As a Parent, your child/ward's teachers will identify you better with your picture.
Organisations who have signed up as a Content Donor can use their logo as their profile picture.

When you login for the first time, you would be presented with a profile form, the fields asterisked in red must be completed before you can access other areas of the platform

You can also check the Settings Tab (Students and Teachers) to set your visibility on the platform

My Page

My Page is what you will see whenever you log in to STEMonWeb subsequently after completing your profile. The following features are made available on your page:

Here is the place you can share your thoughts with the community through posts. It will also showcase the posts that are shared to your timemline by others. Others can make comments to your posts as well as give give them thumb-ups

You can contribute to the Public Library by uploading your STEM video. The video must be in the mp4 format. Here is a free resource for converting your video from any format to the mp4 format

Study Groups

You can learn with your friends by joing study groups created by teachers on the platform

Group Creation (Teacher)

As a Teacher, you can create a study group: a close group with your students. To get started, go to My Page from the top menu bar.

  1. Click on ‘Study Groups’ Tab
  2. Click on ‘Create Group’ button
  3. Complete the pop-up form as shown in the screenshot below

Managing Group (Teacher)

You can manage the study group created by you through the respective group's main page. Start by clicking the studygroup to access the page

Managing Group Members (Teacher)

  1. All members of the group can make post and comment on others’ posts
  2. You can manage your group members such as accepting request to join group or remove a student from your group

Adding Group Resources (Teacher)

  1. You can add educative resources needed for students’ success to the studygroup
  2. Click on ‘View Resource Page’
  3. Click on ‘Add New Resource’ to share educational materials with your group
  4. STEMonWeb gives you the privilege to organize your resources better into different folders for your students, if you desire to do this: click on ‘New Folder’ but if you didn’t create additional folders all your resources will be in the parent folder (as shown below).

Tip

You can add resources in different format namely: Youtube Videos, PDF Documents or an external link (a web address)

  1. Embeding Youtube Video: open the page in youtube, copy the circled part as shown below (all the characters after the equal to (=) sign) from the url and paste these characters in the ‘embed code’ input field.
  2. Document: Only pdf document is allowed
  3. External link: you can share any educative external link.

Welcome to STEMonWeb! STEMonWeb is an interactive e-learning platform built following a typical social networking model to connect students, teachers and their parents so as to foster educative collaboration with a repository for user-generated educational video contents and other resources.

It allows anyone to upload and browse contents. It has a built-in messaging system.
A summary of the services you will enjoy are our 5 Cs:

5 C's of STEMonWeb

Connection

As a student, you can add your friends as study mates to have educative interaction
As a Teacher you can connect with other teachers and share resources.
As a Parent, you can connect with your child (ren)’s teacher(s) and also your child (ren).
As a School, you can build an online intra-school community

Collaboration

Teachers can create study groups with auto generated group codes, which will be shared with students to join groups

There is a Special privilege to schools that want it; they can build an online intra-school community by requesting for a school id and share it with their school community

Communication

Seamless communication between students and their Teachers / Teachers and Parents via a chat/messaging system

Creation

Teachers, Student and educational content creators can create learning resources and upload them to the Public Library or submit to the invention corner, if it is an innovation.

Curate

STEMonWeb provides a curated repository to upload learning resources i.e videos, pictures and others in a well-organized manner. Users can share, comment on and also give a thumb-up on the shared resources.

This product, STEMonWeb with all these features is provided by Moat Consulting Limited(referred to as “STEMonWeb”, “Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) in this Terms of Service.

Surprisingly! We don’t charge you to enjoy all the above features on STEMonweb.

Terms

You agree not to use the STEMonWeb to collect, upload, transmit, display, or distribute any User Content

  1. that violates any third-party right or any intellectual property or proprietary right;
  2. that is unlawful, harassing, abusive, tortious, threatening, harmful, invasive of another’s privacy, vulgar, defamatory, false, intentionally misleading, trade libelous, pornographic, obscene, patently offensive, promotes racism, bigotry, hatred, or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual;
  3. that is harmful to minors in any way; or
  4. that is in violation of any law, regulation, or obligations or restrictions imposed by any third party
  5. any software intended to damage or alter a computer system or data;
  6. unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, junk mail, spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or any other form of duplicative or unsolicited messages;
  7. use the STEMonWeb to harvest, collect, gather or assemble information or data regarding other users without their consent;
  8. interfere with, disrupt, or create an undue burden on servers or networks connected to the STEMonWeb, or violate the regulations, policies or procedures of such networks;
  9. attempt to gain unauthorized access to the STEMonWeb, whether through password mining or any other means;
  10. harass or interfere with any other user’s use and enjoyment of the STEMonWeb; or
  11. use software or automated agents or scripts to produce multiple accounts on the STEMonWeb, or to generate automated searches, requests, or queries to STEMonWeb.

  1. Company respects the intellectual property of others and asks that users of STEMonWeb do the same. We have adopted and implemented a policy respecting copyright law that provides for the removal of any infringing materials and for the termination of users on STEMonWeb who are repeated infringers of intellectual property rights, including copyrights.  If you believe that one of our users is, through the use of STEMonWeb, unlawfully infringing the copyright(s) in a work, and wish to have the allegedly infringing material removed, please inform us by sending a written notification to info@stemonweb.com.
  2. "User Content" means any and all information and content that a user submits to STEMonWeb. You are exclusively responsible for your User Content. You bear all risks associated with use of your User Content. 
  3. Though we will try to protect and save your user contents as many would have been created through sheer efforts but please note that we are not obliged to backup any User Content that you post; also, your User Content may be deleted at any time without prior notice to you if it violate our acceptable user policy. You are solely responsible for making your own backup copies of your User Content if you desire.
  4. All your intellectual property rights on your user content remain yours but in our bid to offer the services intend for STEMonWeb, we need you to grant us an irreversible, nonexclusive, royalty-free and fully paid, worldwide license to reproduce, distribute, publicly display and perform, prepare derivative works of, incorporate into other works, and otherwise use and exploit your User Content, and to grant sublicenses of the foregoing rights, solely for the purposes of including your User Content in STEMonWeb.  And, also license for other users of STEMonweb to distribute and use for the purpose of teaching and fostering learning through STEMonweb.
  5. Each user is solely responsible for any and all of its own User Content.  We will try to control User Content where you can report any abuse or violation through email to info@stemonweb.com but you acknowledge and agree that we are not responsible for any User Content, whether provided by you or by others.  You agree that STEMonweb will not be responsible for any loss or damage incurred as the result of any such interactions.  If there is a dispute between you and any Site user, we are under no obligation to become involved
  6. If you provide Company with any feedback or suggestions regarding STEMonWeb or any of our services, you hereby assign to Company all rights in such Feedback and agree that Company shall have the right to use and fully exploit such Feedback and related information in any manner it believes appropriate.  Company will treat any Feedback you provide to Company as non-confidential and non-proprietary
  7. We reserve the right to review any User Content, and to investigate and/or take appropriate action against you in our sole discretion if you violate the Acceptable Use Policy or any other provision of these Terms or otherwise create liability for us or any other person. Such action may include removing or modifying your User Content, terminating your Account and/or reporting you to law enforcement authorities
  8. Company grants you a non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable, limited license to access the STEMonWeb. The rights approved to you in these Terms are subject to the following restrictions: ( a) you shall not sell, rent, lease, transfer, assign or host STEMonWeb (b) you shall not change, make derivative works of, disassemble, reverse compile or reverse engineer any part of STEMonWeb; (c) you shall not access STEMonWeb in order to build a similar or competitive website; and (d) except as expressly stated herein, no part of STEMonWeb may be copied, reproduced, distributed, republished, downloaded, displayed, posted or transmitted in any form or by any means unless otherwise indicated, any future release, update, or other addition to functionality of STEMonWeb shall be subject to these Terms.  All copyright and other proprietary notices on STEMonWeb must be retained on all copies thereof.
  9. Company reserves the right to change, suspend, or cease STEMonWeb with or without notice to you.  You approved that Company will not be held liable to you or any third-party for any change, interruption, or termination of the Site or any part.
  10. Excluding any User Content that you may provide, you are aware that all the intellectual property rights, including copyrights, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets, in the Site and its content are owned by Company or Company’s suppliers.

Anybody of any age can make use of STEMonWeb, it is available to everyone. However, if you are below 18 , in most countries you lack the capacity to make a contract, you must have your parent or legal guardian’s permission to use the Service. Please have them read this Agreement with you.

Disclaimers

STEMonWeb is provided on an "as-is" and "as available" basis, and company and our suppliers expressly disclaim any and all warranties and conditions of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including all warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, quiet enjoyment, accuracy, or non-infringement.  We and our suppliers make not guarantee that the site will meet your requirements, will be available on an uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free basis, or will be accurate, reliable, free of viruses or other harmful code, complete, legal, or safe

Limitation on Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall company or our suppliers be liable to you or any third-party for any lost profits, lost data, costs of procurement of substitute products, or any indirect, consequential, exemplary, incidental, special or punitive damages arising from or relating to these terms or your use of, or incapability to use STEMonWeb even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.  Access to and use of STEMonWeb is at your own discretion and risk, and you will be solely responsible for any damage to your device or computer system, or loss of data resulting therefrom.

Account Suspension and Termination

STEMonWeb is a community that we want you to have a sense of belonging and be free to express yourself so you can learn and help in the learning of others but above all, we also want it to be a safe place especially for the children hence we will try as much as possible to protect them hence these Terms will remain in full force and effect while you use STEMonWeb.

We may suspend or terminate your rights to use STEMonWeb at any time if we see you are doing otherwise, including using STEMonWeb in violation of these Terms.  Upon termination of your rights under these Terms, your Account and right to access and use STEMonWeb will be terminated immediately. 

You understand that any termination of your Account may involve deletion of your User Content associated with your Account from our live databases.  Company will not have any liability whatsoever to you for any termination of your rights under these Terms.  Even after your rights under these Terms are terminated, the following provisions of these Terms will remain in effect.

Notice Requirement and Dispute Resolution.

We will work hard to make your stay on STEMonWeb ever welcome and pleasing to you but should in case a dispute occurs between us. Before either party may seek arbitration or legal option, the party must first send to the other party a written Notice of Dispute describing the nature and basis of the claim or dispute, and the requested relief. 

A Notice should be sent to info@stemonweb. After the Notice is received, you and the Company may attempt to resolve the claim or dispute informally.  If you and the Company do not resolve the claim or dispute within thirty (30) days after the Notice is received, either party may begin an arbitration proceeding. 

General

These Terms are subject to occasional revision, and if we make any substantial changes, we may notify you by sending you an e-mail to the last e-mail address you provided to us and/or by prominently posting notice of the changes on STEMonWeb.  You are responsible for providing us with your most current e-mail address.  In the event that the last e-mail address that you have provided us is not valid our dispatch of the e-mail containing such notice will nonetheless constitute effective notice of the changes described in the notice.  These changes will be effective immediately for new users of our STEMonWeb.  Continued use of our Site following notice of such changes shall indicate your acknowledgement of such changes and agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions of such changes.
